product description
Marc Jacobs Runway by Marc Jacobs Fall Winter 2013 Collection: Runway Look #7 NWT Sequin Plaid Car Coat Size 8 USA Retail $8,900 Made in USA | Made in the United States *** Major Major THE Pajama Collection Opulent Demi-Couture Sequin Plaid CAR Coat *** This coat from Marc Jacobs's Fall 2013 collection is one of the most opulent designs from his entire tenure. The exterior is crafted of 100% sequins in metallic copper, black, and gold all expertly placed to mimic a wool glen plaid car coat. Sequins have been a trademark of Marc's designs since his first collections under his name in the mid-1980's, his collections for Perry Ellis, his collections for L Vuitton, and his namesake label. The craft on this car coat pushes the limits of sequin design on ready-to-wear. The plaid pattern is perfectly matched on the front pockets, making them appear almost invisible. Features a hidden button placket on the front. Two vertical pockets sit on the front, one on each hip. The coat is lined in a beautiful, thick black silk. Can be styled by itself as a dress (as shown on the runway), or worn as a jacket. This is a piece that stops traffic and turns heads whenever you wear it.
about MARC JACOBS
Explaining his clothes, Jacobs has said "what I prefer is that even if someone feels hedonistic, they don't look it. Curiosity about sex is much more interesting to me than domination. ... My clothes are not hot. Never. Never." The audience for his fashion shows typically includes celebrities like Kim Gordon and Vincent Gallo. Guy Trebay, a critic for The New York Times, in response to Oscar de la Renta's comment that a coat designed by Jacobs closely resembled one that de la Renta had designed thirty years earlier, wrote that "unlike the many brand-name designers who promote the illusion that their output results from a single prodigious creativity, Mr. Jacobs makes no pretense that fashion emerges full blown from the head of one solitary genius". Marc Jacobs, was one of the first fashion designers to establish this “street wise aesthetics – a [mash up of] a little preppie, a little grunge, a little couture.
