Out of the Ordinary
At the heart of this celebration of colour, the "En Couleurs" event is essentially an homage to craftsmanship. Traditional techniques from around the world have been cheerfully revisited and updated, thanks to collabs and exclusive creations.
An ode to savoir-faire from all over the world!
Accessories encapsulating craftsmanship
Showcasing savoir-faire and crafts from all over the world, the event introduces brands that specialise in working with different colours and materials.
With regards to leather goods, VANESSA BRUNO is focusing attention on an essential accessory for summer and its land of origin... the island of Madagascar. Versatile and stylish, not to mention woven entirely by hand using natural fibres, raffia comes in many forms and makes an excellent choice whether you're beach bound or find yourself in a more urban environment.
VANESSA BRUNO, jute bag, €120.
As for Mizele, the brand has brought out a range of woven bags. Inspired by traditional crochet techniques passed down from mothers and grandmothers, designers are bringing out handmade designs requiring over 20 hours of work. Keep an eye out for the iconic crochet purse in tie-dye lurex at Le Bon Marché.
MIZELE, cotton bag, €225.
Drawing on its expertise in leather goods, Jérôme Dreyfuss has created an exclusive travel kit (comprising of a towel, towel holder and a variety of beach accessories) as part of a unique lifestyle collection available from its specially created pop-up shop.
JERÔME DREYFUSS, calfskin and cowhide bag, €1,185.
In terms of shoes, the event brings to light designs embellished with embroidery and eye-catching patterns epitomising good vibes.
ANCIENT GREEK SANDALS showcases Greek savoir-faire with its highly desirable sandals, while Meher Kakalia and Amrose offer shoes finished with colourful embroidery.
ANCIENT GREEK SANDALS, embroidered leather sandals, €275.
Offbeat motifs
Many labels have chosen to explore the dominant theme, embracing colour, travel and comfort: the dreamcatcher. You’ll see it referenced in patterns, embroidery and other decorations on a range of clothing, jewellery and accessories. ISABEL MARANT, Jacquie Aiche, Atelier Paulin, Room Service, Aurélie Bidermann and Dinh Van all present their take on the dreamcatcher in pieces created exclusively for the event.
AURELIE BIDERMANN, 18kt gold plated necklace and earrings, €530 and €360.
Tie-dye is certainly inspiring fashion designers. Ralph Lauren, Maison Mère, PHILIPPE MODEL, ERES, From Future and Kutjen have all produced pieces adorned with the dramatically contrasting patterns.
Providing some escapism, Antik Batik has created a capsule fashion and lifestyle collection geared around Mongolia, while FARM Rio has brought in a Brazilian beach hut. On the second floor, Etro has introduced hot-air balloons adorned with dreamcatchers in honour of its pop-up.
ERES, one-piece Dye & Dry swimsuit, €470.
